PAVEMENT VEHICLE ASSESSMENT

The Pavement Vehicle Assessment is undertaken by an Occupational Therapist and involves assessment of a persons requirements and safety when choosing/using a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair. The OT will assess:
- Physical ability
- Co-ordination and perceptual ability
- Use of the range of vehicles present - on slopes
on rough ground
on quite roads and pavements
up and down low curbs
through narrow gaps
at a variety of speeds
- Getting a pavement vehicle in/out of car if required
As part of the assessment process the OT will also discuss storage, battery charging, insurance and retail outlets. Assessments are for approximately 1-11/2 hours.
